Seattle Day 1 -- In the pool!

Great on his belly, anxious on his back, and loves up and down -- in and out of the water.

The title says it all...he figured it out this morning and now it's nonstop.

Babbling and the back crawl and the multi-roll

Incessant babbling started about a week ago:

De-de-de-dje-de-de-dje-de-da-da-de-de-dje-de-de

Yesterday was clearly scooting backwards in fits of rage trying to move forwards.

This morning the multiple roll: belly to back to belly to back and then at the edge of the bed (quick too!).

And now he's discovered the edge of the letter mat and is trying to eat said edge.

Baby baggie

I've long been curious: why does no one carry their baby in a bag rather than a baby carrier. Now I know: It's uncomfortable!

Here's what I've figured out: Babies are heavy. So you want to lug babies around like you lug around other heavy objects -- either in a backpack-like contraption, or on wheels. And that's in fact what people do! Satisfying.

More of the same:

Feel like I'm fighting Blogger for the picture placement all the way -- and losing.

Maybe we need something else.

Spot

Freckle on his belly never before mentioned...pictures to follow tomorrow.

He's clearly getting his head around gravity. He now peers around at the floor after something falls.

Stroller outing

The new stroller came today! It's orange and lightweight and adorable, and it nearly took my thumb off when I was snapping on the canopy. Undeterred, I tried taking it out, first to the Post Office to pick up my Flonase (not there, of course) and then on to Bloc 11 and the playground. Here we are, for example, near the Target underpass:

The contrast isn't so good, but the message is clear: the monster has little indulgence for the joys of consumerism.

At Target, we acquired our first sippy cups. But he can't use them yet, so this doesn't really count as something new.

Leg room

Phew...there was a cradle beneath it.

I noticed today that he notices footsteps on the stairs and starts staring at the door (though he's probably been doing this for a while...).

In the belly: mango, rice cereal (morn), potato leek soup (aft), sweet potato, steak, and raspberries (eve).

Full usage

Well...time to chuck this basket out.

Little hippo

Little guy weighs in at 14 pounds 2 ounces propelling him into the 3rd percentile for his age. Asleep at 8pm (!) so he missed his evening photo op.

6 months plus 1

Stranger anxiety sets in today...but who can blame him? Jesse looked scary -- like a werewolf. But does he even know what a werewolf is?

in the tummy: 1 banana and some yogurt
